The « Loire à Vélo » network runs through the Loire Valley, a large part of which is listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. The departments and the major urban conurbations are taking part in this large-scale operation in association with the regions. The itinerary has been completed in sections. You will be able to cycle along more than 446 km, of which 380 km are signposted and secure and 66 km are still in the provisional stage, in the Cher, Loiret, Loir-et-Cher, Touraine and Anjou areas. On completion, more than 800 km of cycling routes will be open between Cuffy (Cher) and Saint Brevin les Pins (Loire Atlantique). On the European scale, the « Loire à Vélo » is part of the future « European Rivers Cycle Route » between Nantes and Budapest (2,400 km). In these 800 km, 2/3 of the tracks will go along the Loire, 27 % will be car-free, 24 % share the road with few cars and 37 % are quiet back roads with little traffic. 12 % will be cycling routes. 300 stop areas are also planned to welcome cyclists. The trail is well marked, so all you have to do is to follow the arrows! |
